Already a fixture on the Cleveland real estate scene, Katy Dix Brahler of Re/Max is in full-on expansion mode, adding new team members and revving up for a gangbuster winter.

In the same measure, she’s known for seeing opportunities where others do not, and mastering the art of when (and when not) to pull the trigger on a deal, she also possesses the gift of recognizing talent in others.

“I had been so busy earlier this year, I thought adding a new Realtor to my team would help manage the workload and still allow me to provide the same level of intense interaction I share with my clients,” says Katy.

In April, Realtor Alanna Foster joined Team Brahler.

“I love everything about real estate, from the frantic pace to helping people through often complex and stressful decisions,” says Alanna.

Imagining the Possibilities
Also joining Katy’s team in the area of staging homes is interior architectural designer Kashmira Kadam.

Kashmira met Katy first as a client. She was looking for a home in Westlake, and Katy toured countless houses with her. The ladies share a sense of being able to imagine the possibilities in a home. Kashmira and her husband ended up purchasing a 1960 Colonial and transforming it into a masterwork of modernity.

“We gutted it, knocking down walls, replacing beige carpeting with sleek gray porcelain tiles and hardwood floors and creating a thoroughly contemporary wide open space with pure white walls,” she says.

Trained in her hometown of Mumbai, India, for the past decade Kashmira has worked as an interior architect both in India and here in Cleveland, at the internationally acclaimed Robert Maschke Architects.

Market Watch: Going, Going, Gone
With still-low interest rates and a tight shortage of homes on the market, timing is of the essence. Katy suggests if you want to sell, now is the perfect time. If you want to buy, you should be pre-approved and have a Realtor in place who can get you into the home of your dreams as soon as it hits market.

Katy is intrepid, waking up each morning and scouring MLS listings and then emailing potential homes that match her clients’ criteria.

“Sometimes a few hours make a difference in someone finding his or her dream home,” she says.

And when it comes to communicating with clients, she keeps it personal through phone calls.

“I know a lot of Realtors just shoot an email or text to communicate, but I don’t work that way. I like to engage in real dialogue with people for the most effective results,” Katy says.

A Perfect Fit
For Teresa and Mark Polatajko, who were transferred to Kent State University from Dayton earlier this year so he could take the position of Senior VP of finance, a consultation with Katy had them immediately on the path toward finding the right new home.

Katy, an active KSU alumnus, regularly helps college employees buy and sell their homes.

“If I have one word to describe Katy it would be ‘impressive,’” says Teresa. “We were totally unfamiliar with the market and didn’t know what to expect. She sat with us for over an hour and picked our brains about every little detail that would be in our dream home.”

With a 14-year-old son and 12-year-old twin daughters, a big backyard and open floor plan were tops on their list. Katy found the perfect home for them in Hinckley.

“She was such an amazing listener,” says Teresa. “Her communication skills were wonderful. We heard from her continuously throughout the process and also felt there was no question too small to ask her.”

This is their fourth home in 15 years and the couple reports that working with Katy is the best experience they’ve ever had with a Realtor.

Bay Village Charmer Hits the Market
Though she works with families throughout Northeast Ohio, it’s in her hometown of Bay Village that Katy offers an inside edge when helping buyers and sellers. With less than 100 homes currently for sale in this enchanting town, listings don’t stay on the market for long.

Katy is thrilled to work with the family selling a darling two-bedroom home at 23724 Bruce Road, just a block from the lake and steps away from downtown BV.

“With the soothing palette of icy blues and barely-there celery greens, walking into this home is like walking into Pottery Barn,” she says, also mentioning the white built-in cabinetry and trim, pristine hardwood floors, arched doorways and large and inviting basement.

“Bay at its best. At a just-reduced price of $139,000, this family-friendly abode will soon be going, going, gone.
