Impact Landscape & Home Remodeling is always mindful of poet Gary Snyder’s words: “Nature is not a place to visit. It is home.”

Incorporating the elements of nature—including water and fire—in its landscape designs, this family-owned business customizes each home’s landscape design based on the lay of the land. And if you want a cascading waterfall and your land is flat, no problem. They can truck in giant boulders to create anything anywhere.

Both a landscape company and a homebuilder, Impact has as a unique perspective when designing inside and outside spaces.

From designing backyard kitchens that look like they belong indoors to remodeling home interiors by taking down walls to create views of the yard, this locally owned company is seamlessly blending indoor-outdoor living spaces.

Impact Landscape & Home Remodeling often incorporates a mix of water and fire features in its landscape designs, with the same goal: to provide an outdoor space that is relaxing and rejuvenating.

“We are creating grand spaces in backyards that are similar to an indoor open-concept family room and kitchen,” says Joe Chiera, who along with his wife, Kristen, owns Impact Landscape & Home Remodeling. “These outdoor spaces are an extension of your home and provide extra square footage of living space.”

Oftentimes, this means building a pavilion or three-season room to provide shelter from the rain and snow that allows you to use the space year-round.

“Water features are like a work of art,” says Jeff Heinl, co-owner. “A water feature is like an abstract painting that you don’t really design but masterfully create on the spot, letting the stones and boulders lie naturally.”

“We are creating a lot of pond-less water features that require less maintenance,” adds Joe. “We build a hidden reservoir of water underground that recirculates the water and bubbles over natural boulders. Then we soften the hardscape by planting shrubs and flowers.”

“Fall is the best time to seed a lawn and plant trees, since the cooler weather results in less stress to the plantings,” says Joe. “Plus, if you landscape now, your yard will be ready for you to enjoy late fall and again on the first day of spring.”
