The Medicare Open Enrollment Period, during which time you can join a plan, drop your current plan, switch to another plan or return to original Medicare, runs now through Monday, December 7, 2020. If you’re looking for a plan that is catered to fit your individual requirements, now is the time to shop.

One local agency—the DLX Insurance Group—is unique in the area. Its founder, Steven Fine, a senior citizen and Chesterland resident, is the owner of a Medicare insurance plan himself.

With a career that spans more than four decades, Steven has been a financial advisor working with teachers and employees of school boards in Northeast Ohio on their 403b tax shelter annuity retirement plans. Now, with his primary focus on Medicare and retirement planning, Steven is helping senior citizens, like himself, have what he calls “Medicare peace of mind.”

Choosing a Medicare insurance plan can be a tedious and sometimes confusing task. Knowing this firsthand, Steven, a great listener with a wealth of knowledge, works with his clients on an individual basis and provides them with options on Medicare insurance plans they feel most appropriate to them based on their specific needs so they may make intelligent choices.

As an independent, certified agent, Steven represents almost all the Medicare insurance companies, including United Healthcare, Devoted Health, Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Humana, Aetna, Medical Mutual, and many others.

He offers a wide selection of plans that may include no co-pays, zero-dollar premiums, prescription drugs, dental, vision, hearing, over-the-counter items, and transportation to and from doctor’s offices among others.

Steven Fine, of DLX Insurance, reaches out to his clients several times a year (via phone, Zoom or in-person) to make sure they are happy with their plans, and even offers personal annual reviews to make sure they are always enrolled in the plan that continues to best fit their needs.

How Covid-19 Affected Consultations
Although the Medicare insurance industry had already started to go electronic, the pandemic has certainly given it a big push forward, notes Steven. We can now complete the entire process of selecting and enrolling in a Medicare insurance plan virtually. This can be done either by phone, email or remote meetings like Zoom. Clients can now complete all the documentation, including remote signatures, in the convenience of their own home or office.

For those who still want to meet face to face, Steven takes extra precautions such as Plexiglass barriers, face masks, shields and temperatures that are taken before entering the office.

Staying Ahead of the Changes
Medicare insurance plans can and sometimes do change from year to year, and new Medicare insurance companies are always emerging, Steven says. In addition, clients’ needs may also change from year to year. Communication with his clients is the benchmark of Steven’s commitment to them. Offering annual reviews in person or remotely and sending periodic letters assures his clients are always enrolled in the Medicare insurance plan most appropriate for them.

As a full-service agency, Steven offers his clients additional options such as hospital indemnity plans that offset some of the co-pays of an inpatient stay at a hospital, retirement and education planning, and annuities, just to name a few.

With the changing costs of healthcare and increased concerns about the pandemic, Steven notes that his clients’ peace of mind is of the utmost importance and he takes that very seriously. Trust, integrity, education and communication are what makes a long and lasting relationship with his clients so important. “This is the foundation of my commitment to you,” he says.
