In Northeast Ohio, we have the luxury of enjoying all four seasons. But those four seasons brings blistering cold and sweltering heat. In the warm summer months, it’s important for you to feel comfortable in your home without breaking the bank.

Here are some tips to get the most of out of your indoor comfort system without having to spend a fortune, now and in the long run:

1. Replace old air conditioning units with newer, more resourceful models. If you’ve been lacking on maintaining you old, current unit, it’s time to consider investing in a newer, more eco-friendly model. A replacement model means a higher cost up front, but it will save you money long-term.

2. Consider a Smart thermostat. Everything seems to have a “Smart” option these days, but a programmable thermostat is Smart in more ways than one. You can control it from your Smartphone, tablet, or computer, as well as monitor the temperature and humidity outside your home, whether anyone is home or not, and it adjusts your cooling cycle accordingly.

3. Make sure your vents are clean and open. This probably sounds like a no-brainer, but it’s often overlooked. Vents can be shut when cleaning and never reopened. A clean vent enables air to flow freely throughout your home and prohibits debris and dust from spreading through your ventilation.

4. Replace your air filters regularly. Biannually replacements are recommended for air filters to keep your system running optimally. Clogged, dirty filters can disrupt the airflow.

Don’t let your family sweat in the summer heat. Now is the time to take control of your indoor comfort.
