Long before Helen Reddy belted out the words, “I am woman hear me roar, in numbers too big to ignore,” in the 1970s, women were becoming a dynamic force in the workplace, spreading their wings, achieving success and eyeing a crack or two in the glass ceiling.

Along the way, a key factor underlying that success has always been support.

For Re/Max agent Katy Dix Brahler—who has risen to the top over the past 25 years—support comes from her husband and two darling daughters, as well as a tight-knit group of girlfriends.

“My daughter Olivia is my #1 assistant,” she says of her oldest daughter, who is a sophomore at Ohio University. “She does everything from administration to putting the signs into the ground. She does so much for me, and so does my high school daughter, Amy Page.”

Katy’s husband, Gary, who is a financial planner, is always there, too, lending his support.

Steel Magnolias All Over Again
Her core group of girlfriends also provide a daily dose of enthusiasm.

“These ladies are truly my rock. Such an inspiration,” says Katy, her voice cracking with emotion. “Each weekday we share a latte and banter about everything from current events to the real estate market and what’s going on in our families. We encourage each other and laugh a lot, as they all have a wicked sense of humor. They have diverse careers and our colorful conversations reflect that.”

After coffee, she says, they feel charged up to go out and seize the day.

Thankful for Supporting her Cause
Inasmuch as Katy appreciates the support of others, she’s always been one to support philanthropic causes. This past summer—in honor of an old friend who passed away from cancer—she took to the open road in the VeloSano Bike to Cure Cancer.

“I want to thank everyone who supported me,” she says. “This effort is unique because every dollar we raised will be applied to cancer research here at the Cleveland Clinic.”

Market Watch Predictions
“There are many factors that drive the real estate market,” she says. “Interest rates are one of the most important. And those are still historically low. Here in Cleveland, there continues to be a shortage of listings on the market. If you are thinking of selling your house, now is an excellent time.”

She further describes the current market as “a little crazy,” and says that her listings usually go into multiple offers, with her clients getting the price they are asking for.

Check Out This Steal...
From both ends of the home ownership spectrum—from first-time buyers to downsizing empty nesters—and everyone in-between, Katy has spent years honing her craft to make their experience a smooth and easy one.

With listings big and small throughout the Cleveland/Akron area, Katy mentions a special one in historic Olmsted Falls. On a large and lush lawn, the delightful abode at 26175 Bagley Road has been lovingly kept up by long-time residents who are downsizing empty nesters.

“From the darling breakfast nook off the kitchen to the gracious covered back patio, and formal living and dining room, this charming home has it all,” she says. “And with a spacious, yet-to-be finished third floor and basement, there’s loads of potential. Priced smartly at $164,900, the three-bedroom home will not last on the market for long.”

And, she notes, the quiet, tree-lined street is within walking distance of all the quaint downtown Olmsted Falls shopping and restaurants.
