As the Grinch discovered after stealing toys and gifts from the folks of Whoville, Christmas is about more than money and presents.
This year especially, as we all look for “a little bit more” meaning, Denise and Mark Zervos want to celebrate cherished holiday memories.
As owners of The Neighborhood Experts at Platinum Real Estate, they’ve sold more than a billion dollars in properties over the years. But they’ve come to deeply appreciate that home is where your heart is.
“It’s been a challenging year, and we want people to recall nostalgic remembrances from Christmases past,” says Denise.
From Her Own Heart
In the spirit of sharing, Denise relates a favorite Yuletide memory of her own.
“Christmas has always been special in my family,” she says. “The smell of pierogies and mushroom soup cooked by my Grandma, making Slovak kolache (nut roll), and much love. My earliest memory of Christmas was of what looked like a giant village underneath my Grandma and Grandpap’s dining room Christmas tree. I couldn’t have been older than three, so from my perspective everything was glistening from lights and magnified in size. It was then that my Uncle Gary sat with me and explained the people, the scene of the nativity and the special baby Jesus laying in the manger that the kings brought gifts to honor. This is why we celebrate Christmas. Throughout my life, my uncle has always been my ‘go to’ when I had questions regarding the Bible and religion and, coincidentally, is now a Deacon in the church. How much was comprehended at the time I don’t know, but from the eyes of a child staring at the glistening clumps of cotton like snow, particles of hay, and a baby who was born the King of Kings, I am certain a special seed was planted that day as the true meaning of Christmas was shared.”

A Look at 2021
Although many people are experiencing financial hardship now due to the pandemic, Denise reports the housing market is doing quite well.
“Fewer homes on the market means higher demand, which is still causing prices to go up in Lake County,” she explains. “With historically low interest rates, I don’t see these conditions changing in the near future.”
Denise says one of the many things she counts on her blessings list is her supportive and energetic dream team of agents.
“In a true stronger-together mindset, we work in synch with each client, proactively brainstorming strategies,” she says. “Our team has the experience and the talent to guide clients throughout the buying and selling process, smoothly.”
New Digs
Also tops on her blessings list is the big move of their corporate headquarters later this month.
The new Platinum Center (formerly the Polo Building in Mentor), will feature a high-tech environment that also will provide ultra-convenience for clients with title, insurance and financial investment companies all under one roof.
