White-glove service is our specialty,” proclaims Therese Kish, owner of New York Textiles & Interiors, based out of Columbia Station. “We go above and beyond to ensure every customer experience is the best it can be. We do whatever it takes to accommodate.”

New York Textiles & Interiors is an interior design company that specializes in window treatments for every type of home. Launched in Parma more than 65 years ago, Therese purchased the business 17 years ago and has been helping homeowners “put the frosting on their interior cakes” ever since.

“It really doesn’t matter your design style in a room, custom window treatments are always the delicious finishing touch that make a space come alive,” she says. “But we bring more to each project than simply showing up with fabric or blind samples and taking measurements. Our consultants are certified interior designers who know how to pull a room together—within your budget.”

New York Textiles partners with local seamstresses to custom craft soft window treatments, so every finished look is created to measure and fits your room perfectly. For blinds and shades, Therese and her staff are fans of the Graber product line.

“Graber offers the highest quality blinds, shades and shutters,” she says. “They boast motorization and we can motorize virtually any style. They also offer high-tech options, like smart phone capability.”

Therese says an in-home consultation or virtual appointment is the best way to get started. Once you and your personal designer come up with the right look for your room, the customization process starts.

Therese says the modern farmhouse style that’s been so popular of late is making way for a more modern look. “Roller shades are really becoming popular. The clean lines and variety of patterns, textures and colors are really big right now,” she reveals. “Roman shades and shutters are also having a moment.”

Therese says an in-home consultation or virtual appointment is the best way to get started. Once you and your personal designer come up with the right look for your room, the customization process starts. “Custom window treatments provide much better quality and fit,” she says. “There’s a huge difference between what we offer and what you can find in a big box store. And because we install everything we sell, our customers can feel confident that our professional, factory trained window treatment installers will put those finishing touches in the room magnificently.”

Therese says a lot of her time spent with clients includes an educational component, helping people visualize their space with a specialty textile adorning the window, or blind or shade, and explaining what makes the process of selecting a custom window covering so special.

“In every design project, there is a splurge factor,” she says. “We take into consideration where a client can economize and where they can splurge. Then we help them get there.”

Beyond the Window Dressing
Therese says that some clients invite New York Textiles to redesign entire rooms or entire houses. Others want guidance on selecting paint colors and furnishings. Then there are those who have existing treasured furnishings in need of new life. She can help with fabric selection and then her top team of expert upholsterers can recover a chair, couch or other piece of furniture and really make it a stunning addition to the space.

“Everything about what we do is personalized,” she concludes. “Our service sets us apart, and it has for more than 65 years. I love being at an event and having someone come up to me to rave about the experience their mom or grandmother had with us. We’ve been strong for more than six decades, and our customers can count on us to be strong now and well into the future.”
