Three years ago, Coast Guard veteran Erron Luedtke was looking for a job. Correy Petz, owner of EverGreen Turf Solutions, didn’t hesitate to offer him one. Since starting as a fertilizing tech, Erron has quickly moved up the ranks and today serves as the company’s business manager.

“I have a huge place in my heart for veterans,” Correy says. “Both of my grandfathers were in the military. One was in the Navy, and the other was in the Army as a bomber pilot. He had to go on 25 missions before he was allowed to stop flying and retire.”

Erron served in the military for 10 years and moved around quite a bit. When the vet approached the lawncare giant, Correy says he was thrilled to provide Erron with a new home base. “This is a people first business,” Correy stresses. “We care as much about our employees as we do our customers. We’re the people you see at little league games, in the grocery store and in the neighborhood. We care about each other and the community. Supporting our veterans and military personnel just goes along with our mission.”

Another way EverGreen supports veterans is by offering them a 10 percent discount. Recently, he decided to include first responders as well.

Correy says that a lot of the people who decide to forgo the box-store-style fertilization model in favor of his passionate, personalized, locally owned approach do so around this time of year—before the weeds, crabgrass and other lawn invasives have had a chance to take root and prosper.

“The first fertilization application sets the stage for a strong growing season,” he explains. “Now is the time to give us a call to secure a spot in one of our fertilization programs.”

There’s no shortage of bagged fertilizer in the stores right now just waiting for anxious DIYers to arrive, but EverGreen has access to and applies a pro-grade blend. The result is a lusher, greener lawn than you can achieve by doing it yourself. And EverGreen doesn’t dilute its product in favor of profits, or try to sell you on stuff you don’t need.

“High pressure? Never,” Correy stresses. “That’s not how we operate. We charge a fair price for a quality job. Period. We’re not always the most expensive, and we’re not always the cheapest. We don’t offer a one-size-fits-all pricing structure and we do use the highest quality fertilizer available.”

“We price appropriately, taking the size of your lawn and your location into consideration,” he says. “And we use the right amount and right type of product. We know people price shop, but it’s important to know that price isn’t the only factor to consider. If you aren’t getting a quality application, you’re just throwing your money away. We don’t cut corners just to be cheaper.”

“My family and I live in Medina. I grew up in Strongsville and my wife, Sarah, grew up in Brunswick,” Correy shares. “I’m usually here in the office until 6 or 7 at night. I’m genuinely invested in the process and my team and I care very much about the outcome.”

Correy offers a free estimate in person or over the phone.

“Fertilization isn’t rocket science,” he says. “But in this business, I’ve found that our friendly, knowledgeable, personable service really stands out. Our guys come in logoed shirts and lettered trucks, just like the box-store-type companies do. But that’s where the similarities end.”

Oh, and when you call the company, Erron’s is typically the voice you’ll hear on the other end of the line. He’s also the touch person for all customer service tickets and often handles sales.
