Building 9 has scored a multi-truckload buy on brand name composite decking, and the price is insanely low

Building 9’s prices almost always beat the big box home improvement retailers by a significant margin, owner Shane Haumesser insists.

But some deals, Shane says, are so spectacular that he can’t even advertise them.

“They’re called buybacks,” he says, discussing how Building 9 has scored a multi-truckload purchase of a popular brand of composite decking boards. The 12- and 16-foot boards are available now at Building 9’s

42,000-square-foot showroom and warehouse on Route 18, in Medina.

“When a manufacturer works a deal to get its product into a national chain, part of the deal typically is that they have to buy out the chain’s existing inventory of that product,” Shane explains. “What are they supposed to do with a competitor’s product? That’s where we come in.”

That’s how Building 9 often ends up with perfectly good building products that may have adorned the aisles of a national home improvement chain just months ago.

“As you can imagine, the big box stores don’t want the public to know that this was their stuff that we’re selling for a fraction of the price,” Shane says. “So, we have to agree not to advertise the brand. But what I can say is that it is gorgeous gray decking and the price is insane.”

If you prefer a different color, Shane still has you covered. Building 9 always carries a wide variety of TimberTech and Azek decking at everyday low prices.

“To finish off your deck, we recently purchased a nice black and brown handrail system that we’re selling at half the big box store prices,” Shane offers.

While you’re getting your home primped for summertime enjoyment, you may want to take a look at Building 9’s multi-truckload purchase of thick, rugged, .046-inch vinyl siding. Nine colors are available.

“We also recently bought a shipment of a nice stone veneer,” Shane says.

Building 9, he says, is the best-kept secret in home improvement. Although 85 percent of the store’s sales are to do-it-yourselfers, many people pass by Building 9’s bright yellow and red sign, believing that it’s a store for professional contractors.

“That’s why we will soon introduce a new logo and tagline that reinforces that we’re open to the public,” Shane says.

The 36-year-old company started by offering closeout and liquidation deals, but now is a big distributor of major brands like Schrock Cabinets, Andersen Windows, RMC Vinyl Siding, Aristokraft Cabinets and Somerset and Versini Flooring.

“Kitchen cabinets are our biggest selling item,” Shane reveals. “We have cabinets to fit any budget. We have tons in stock, or we can special order and have them within a couple of weeks. If you bring in your dimensions, we’ll be delighted to do a free computer layout and design for you. We can make your dream kitchen happen.”

Building 9’s showroom is loaded with flooring materials—including wildly popular waterproof vinyl, which accounts for 80 percent of the store’s flooring sales, Shane says.

“It’s the big thing right now because it is so durable, easy to install and, best of all, easy to take care of,” he says. “In fact, we have a multiple shipping container order of it coming in by June—at pre-tariff pricing.”
