Participating in charity work to benefit your community may give you a warm and fuzzy feeling.

Especially when the work involves drinking beer.

Your assignment at StrongFest—the Rotary Club of Strongsville’s inaugural beer and wine tasting event—will be to sample the concoctions of some of the best craft breweries in Northeast Ohio.

The event will be held Saturday, August 27, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Walter F. Ehrnfelt Recreation Center, in Strongsville. Proceeds will benefit the Strongsville Town Center Enhancement & Walkability Initiative and other Rotary supported charities.

“StrongFest is a fun opportunity to sample some quality beer and wine in a festive atmosphere with live music while taking the opportunity to have a bite to eat from local food trucks, plus contribute to a worthy cause,” invites Jeff Ellis, co-chairman of the event. “We’ll also be auctioning off fantastic vacation packages.”

Through Monday, August 1, you can secure early bird discount admission for $40, which includes 20 drink tickets. After that, the price will be $50. Special VIP admission, which includes an exclusive seating area, exclusive food options, additional drink tickets and premium wines, can be purchased for $75 before August 1—a $10 savings off the door price.

Designated driver admissions are available for $10 and include soft drinks and water, but no drink tickets. Admission can be purchased online at StrongFest.com or at the door.

Strongfest was inspired by two other similar charity events, Jeff said.

Strongsville’s Town Center Enhancement & Walkability Initiative is a plan to make the area surrounding the Strongsville commons more pedestrian-friendly. The project includes a variety of new amenities, including an interactive fountain and splash pad, a new pavilion and a new community playground to be constructed in the area west of the Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center.

Event sponsorships ranging from $250 to $5,000 are available. As of July 7, Altenheim Senior Living, in Strongsville and Mimi Magazine are sponsors.

The Rotary Club of Strongsville, under the motto of “Service Above Self,” takes on a large number of ongoing community projects and initiatives throughout the year, including financial and volunteer support of the Strongsville Emergency Food Bank, an annual community forum on human trafficking, a multitude of youth support activities through local schools, an annual clothing drive for people in need, free holiday and summertime events for local seniors, landscaping help at venues like the Strongsville Historical Village and Camp Cheerful, and many other activities.

The club recently completed a joint project with the Rotary Club of Kraków, Poland, to purchase two ambulances and other medical supplies for Ukraine.
