Active seniors 55 and over are living their best lives at Lorain Pointe Senior Apartments

Erin Hill, property manager at Lorain Pointe Senior Apartments, admits to being a little envious of the community’s residents.

“I’m not 55, so I can’t move in,” Erin laments.

The oversized food pantries in Lorain Pointe’s two-bedroom apartments was one of the things that first caught her eye. But most of the residents, she shares, say they love their neighbors the best.

“That’s one of the things I hear almost every day,” Erin says. “They tell me that they had no idea when they moved in that their neighbors would care so much. We have people here who will drive other residents to doctor appointments or other places. They take it upon themselves to help clean the grounds, or water the flowers. They take pride in their home and it really shows. They help to keep the building beautiful.”

Lorain Pointe, a part of the Clover Group of 55-and-over communities, offers desirable amenities in a comfortable, safe setting—and is located conveniently close to outside shopping and dining, Erin says.

“We’re in an awesome location on the border of Lorain and Amherst,” she says. “They’re building a Meijer supermarket right on our corner and we have Walmart, Giant Eagle, Target and all kinds of other stores close by. Being right near I-90 and Route 2, we’re at the hub of everything.”

More important, she says, is what’s inside Lorain Pointe.

“We have a coffee bar and community rooms, all with microwaves and refrigerators,” Erin reveals. “They are always open, so residents are free to use them any time they want to. We have an on-site beauty salon, a fitness center and a large common room that residents can reserve for family gatherings.”

And there is almost always something fun to do.

Two residents have taken the initiative to organize activities. An on-sight murder mystery dinner event to be held this month is one of their interesting undertakings. Then there’s the pet parade.

“We are pet friendly here,” Erin assures. “Residents are going to dress up their cats and dogs and parade them around. It’s going to be adorable. Our activities directors do a wonderful job of keeping our residents busy with fun things to do.”

Lorain Pointe isn’t assisted living, Erin specifies.

“We have a lot of active, independent residents who want to downsize and enjoy life without the daily chores and headaches of home ownership,” she says.

“Many of them drive and get around. But we’re also a very safe place for people who are less active. We’re very accessible and all of our apartments have emergency pull cords in the bedrooms and bathrooms.”

Unlike at some considerably more expensive senior communities, meals are not included in the monthly rent at Lorain Pointe. One-bedroom apartments start at an affordable $1,030 per month—$1,170 for two-bedroom units—and include all utilities (even cable). Besides, who wants to eat at the same place all the time with so many dining options close by?

One-bedroom apartments are 625 square feet and include a balcony or a first-floor patio. Two-bedroom units are 825 square feet.

All apartments feature open floor plans that make it easy for residents to bring in furniture from their previous homes.
