Whether it’s down in the MetroParks, along the sandy shores of Lake Erie, at any Cleveland or Akron landmark such as the art museums and zoos, or simply in your own backyard oasis, there’s nothing like picnic season in Northeast Ohio.

Salad Supreme
Elemental to any picnic basket is a freshly made, bursting-with-flavor salad, whether cole slaw, tossed greens, fruit, Jello, bean, vegetable, potato, pasta, etc.
But why not put a different spin on these all-American classics?
Just a few fun ingredients tossed into cabbage slaw, such as apple chunks, walnuts, red peppers, or sesame seeds, can turn blah into a tangy sensation that pairs nicely w ...

Have you ever hosted a party at home with everyone relishing the food, drink, and jovial conversation, but you didn’t get a chance to savor anything much less talk to your guests because you were stuck working in the kitchen? This scenario is all too common as hosts and hostesses often take on a working role when throwing a party.
When cooking for a crowd this summer—whether a birthday party, graduation party, pool party, or any other celebration—hire a caterer to handle the food so you can enjoy the party, too.
Working with a caterer allows you to personalize your menu and have it be a reflection of your style. I ...

March Madness at the offices of North Coast Laser Aesthetics & Liposuction doesn’t have anything to do with basketball. This is one of our busiest months for helping patients banish fat forever from tummies, thighs, hips, love handles, arms, backs, necks, and chins.

Springtime is an ideal time for liposuction because patients are required to wear compression garments for five or six weeks following the procedure, which can be uncomfortable in hotter temperatures.

Minimally-invasive laser lipo makes getting rid of fat easier than ever before. For instance, we do not need to use general anesthesia, which m ...

A: Thank you for your question, Brenda. Hereditary hair loss is one of the major causes of hair loss in healthy women. The first thing to keep in mind is that there is no “magic pill.” No matter what the product, service, or specialist tells you, the only way to grow hair back is if there i ...

As summer begins, many people head outdoors where they’re more active. That’s good for both heart and spirit. And while activity has its health benefits, it doesn’t replace the many benefits of strength training. Here are three reasons you should make the gym a part of your daily routine through the warmer months.

1.  Muscle burns fat, even while you’re resting.
While cardio burns calories, a body’s metabolism has a large role in how food is converted to energy. While long-duration cardio does not increase metabolism, and can actually lower it, strength training does. ...

Crossroads Animal Hospital

Spring begins soon, and with it comes “the bugs.” As veterinarians, the bug we are most concerned about is the mosquito. They are the carriers of the single most devastating parasite that pets can get—heartworm. This parasite lives in the pulmonary artery leading from the right side of the heart to the lungs.

Once the parasite reaches maturity, it starts to lay live microscopic larvae, which circulate in the bloodstream. When a mosquito bites our pet, it sucks blood and picks up these larvae, which are transmitted to animals the next time it bites. Only mosquitos transmit heartworm.
