By  Rebecca Bar-Shain
Most business owners may list the following three items as their top priorities:

1) Business growth.
2) Business owner’s financial well being in retirement.
3) Business stability. But when we look at the actions business owners have taken, there is often a discrepancy between their values and the steps they have taken to work toward their goals.

This discrepancy may be a result of an operational focus and the challenge of limited resources. In many cases, however, it is because they haven’t taken the time to learn about the strategies available to meet their needs.

One of the key factors in pursuing business growth is having ...

By  Jill Schaefer

When Jill Schaefer, of Echo Hearing and Audiology, meets new people, she gets asked a lot of questions about hearing improvement. Here she answers one of the most common.

Q: There sure are a lot of hearing aid ads out there. How do I know what’s legitimate and what’s not?

A: That’s a great question, and the answers are important if you are looking for hearing help.

First of all, you need to know that a hearing aid is a sophisticated medical device, not just an appliance. Each person’s hearing loss is different, so there isn’t one setting that works for everybody. You need a professional with the proper c ...

A Massage When You are Sick?

By  Natalie Rumbaugh

You woke up this morning stiff and sore because you were in bed all day yesterday with a cold. You realize you have a massage scheduled and think that’s a good thing. A massage will provide relief to achy muscles and provide an hour of feeling good instead of feeling terrible, right? Well, not so fast.

Actually, getting a massage when you are sick with a cold or flu can be a very bad idea. Depending on which stage of the illness you are in, a massage can send a virus zooming through your body—making you feel a lot worse.

Massage has a profound effect on the circulatory system, facilitating the movement of fluid throughout your ...

By  Mike Ventresca

Over the past several years, calcium has received a great deal of attention. You can get added calcium in just about every food you can think of—cereals, breads, juice and more. Doctors now routinely prescribe calcium. All this focus on calcium is a good thing, right? Maybe not. To understand why, let’ s look at the other side of the calcium coin— magnesium.

Magnesium and calcium work together. In fact, magnesium controls the entry of calcium into the cell. Without it, calcium cannot be used properly. However, magnesium is much more than a calcium helper. In fact, it’s so important to health, some call it the Mighty Mineral.

Don't Jump!

As I write this, I am traveling by airplane to visit clients living in Florida. I am taking the time to read reports from several economists concerning the current and future state of the world economy and the resulting expected performance of the investment markets.

It’s also the day after a blistering two-and-a-half percent single-day decline in the markets—the biggest decline in several months.

The consensus of the reports that I am reading seem to center around the probability that stocks could achieve high single-digit average annual total returns over the next five to 10 years with bonds returning low single-digit average an ...

Lines around the eyes can be active (only there when you squint or smile) or passive (there all the time).

In terms of lifestyle: stop smoking, wear sunglasses with  both     UV A   and       UVB protection, and use a daily moisturizer with both UV A                and           UVB        sunscreen (should contain zinc oxide or titanium dioxide). These interventions will help prevent the worsening of these lines.

Dr. Oz agrees. On a recent show where he introduced the gastric band hypnosis he called it one of the “secret weapons in the war against weight.” After spotlighting three women who had a very positive outcome with the hypnotic gastric band, Dr. Oz went on to say, “I believe hypnosis can help control the demons causing you to overeat.”

I am in complete agreement. My clients are eating 50% less after just the first session of the Virtual Gastric Band program. The metamorphosis people go through when they are no longer slaves to their
cravings is quite remarkable. It’s a process and the weight will come off, but what I fi ...

By  Harley

Three years ago I started a charity called Blankets Fur Beasties to provide blankets, toys and other comforts to the animals in Northeast Ohio’s shelters.

We have been collecting and donating all kinds of stuff for the shelter animals, and we’re trying to promote shelter animal adoptions by posting pictures on my website of some of the animals I see while visiting shelters.

I have also been volunteering at the Northeast Ohio SPCA in Parma. As of February 17, 2012, our third anniversary, we had donated 1,794 items to local shelters.

Although I am proud of the impact we have made in three years, my big dream for Blankets Fur Beast ...

Migraines and Chiropractic

By  Dr. Mike Masterson

Migraines are a severe headache, often accompanied by visual disturbances, nausea and vomiting. Some patients do not experience a headache, but will instead suffer from an ocular migraine. The only symptoms may be halos around lights or spots before their eyes.

Migraine headaches can be so severe that the person needs to stay in a darkened room for hours or several days to allow the headache to dissipate.

Since the nerves from the upper neck generally radiate up behind the ear, across the temple and end up over the eye and into the frontal sinuses, nerve interference can also cause a multitude of symptoms affecting the eyes, cheeks, teet ...
