Home of the $1,899 kitchen

Over the last seven years, lead designer Angelo Lardomita has had a hand in creating more than 5,000 kitchens for the customers of Northeast Factory Direct, many of them Mimi readers.

“We bridge the gap between the off-the-shelf, low-quality cabinets found at the box stores and the high-end, custom or semi-custom cabinets found at design centers,” Angelo states.

“We recognize that the vast majority of homeowners in Northeast Ohio fall somewhere in between. They want value, but they also want a quality product—and a quality experience.”

NEFD provides all three.

“Our kitchens start at a ridiculously low $1,899 for a 10x10 space,” owner Alex Nemet inserts.

“That’s enough cabinets for a standard L-shaped kitchen. It’s our basic package and we sell those all day long. Most people, however, want to add a few extra bells and whistles, things like glass door inserts, a pantry, a lazy Susan, a pullout trash cabinet, pot and pan storage, cookie sheet storage, spice racks, a wine rack, rollout shelves and decorative molding to really take their space to the next level.”

The average cabinet configuration with all the extras NEFD has to offer, he says, typically ranges from $5,000 to $6,000. You’d pay more than double someplace else. Even if you purchased the ugly oak, stain-it-yourself cabinets off the shelf from a box store, you’d still pay less for NEFD’s best-priced cabinet.

The savings are that substantial.

“The attention a good design requires means that most people take basic measurements of their space and then schedule an appointment for individual attention with one of our 12 kitchen designers,” Angelo shares.

“At other places, cabinets are ordered only after a solid design has been approved, which can cost more. Because we sell so many kitchens, we buy our cabinets by the truckload and pass the dramatic savings on to our customers.”

Buying by the truckload takes a huge investment on Alex’s part up front, but it’s a tried and true formula for discounting the top-quality, all-wood cabinets NEFD has been selling since day one. And it’s because of this volume-buying approach, along with the warehouse setting and low overhead, that Alex is able to beat any box store cabinet price by as much as 60-70 percent.

“That’s a real number,” he emphasizes.

“When you visit a box store for a Kraftmaid or Schrock cabinet, you have to pay to upgrade to all-wood construction, solid maple dovetail drawers, steel under mount full-extension guides, soft-close doors and drawers, and paint, stain and finish options of your choosing. Here, all of those features come standard, and we can still beat their prices by as much as 60-70 percent. Plus, we include all of the knobs and drawer pulls for your new cabinets at no charge, free field measurements and free design service. I tell all of my customers to go ahead and compare to what the box stores are offering. I know they’ll be back.”

Once you’ve settled on a design for your new space, the selection process starts. NEFD features more than 50 different door styles and a virtually unlimited number of stain, paint and finish options. They’ll even connect you with a crew of certified installers that work almost exclusively for NEFD to bring your dream to life.

“Our cabinets come fully assembled, so certainly our clients can install on their own if they want to. But our installers know our products inside and out so they can elect to have us help with that if they’d like,” Angelo invites.

It’s also important to note that because of the sheer number of completed kitchens Angelo and his fellow designers have under their NEFD belts, they’ve created kitchens for virtually every style of home in the area.

“We’ve seen every type of home and every type of layout and know the best solutions for each space,” Angelo says. “I know exactly what to do to make your space better because chances are I did your neighbor’s kitchen three weeks ago.”

To help complete your cabinet layout, NEFD offers granite and quartz countertops starting at $49/square foot installed. There are hundreds of different options to choose from and you get to pick the slab that appeals to you most.

“When I met Alex seven years ago, I was blown away by the way he does business. Nobody was doing what he was doing,” Angelo reveals.

“I’m still amazed by the number of cabinets we sell on a weekly basis, but I think that says a lot about the quality of the product we offer, the quality of the designs we produce and our customer service before, during and after each project.”
