Already one of the most successful Lake County YMCA Dream Houses in its 24-year history, the massive 5,100-square-foot colonial to be given away for 2017 packs a punch when it comes to design ingenuity and reflection and reinterpretation of the latest trends.

“So far, we’ve seen tens of thousands of people tour the home and the response has been overwhelming,” says Dave Saifman, director of marketing and communications for the YMCA. “People are saying they love how wide open the home’s spacious floor plan is, yet with unique niche spaces.”

What’s Mimi’s favorite room in the house? More than just a single space, she loves the concept of flow.

There are fascinating details to uncover wherever your eye lands. For instance, the picture of the great room accompanying this story showcases how the large piece of art slides effortlessly to cover the television—voila—transforming a family room to an elegant sitting room. Another show-stopping trick is painting the ceiling an earthy slate gray to draw the eye upward and spotlight the stunning geometric, brushed gold chandelier.

Anyone who has a walk-through dining room will appreciate the double duty at play in the utterly modern, family-friendly dining room, which positions the dining table tucked off-center into a corner with banquet seating, creating a cozy space that can change into a traditional dining room just by expanding the table.

Tours end on Sunday, August 6, so you only have a handful of weeks left to take a chance at making this Dream House your reality. Will you be the one to turn the key this year?

Celebrating its 24th year, the Dream House is one of Northeast Ohio’s most successful charity events, having raised more than $4 million to go toward the Lake County YMCA. Located at 5295 SOM Center Road in Willoughby, the Dream House is open for tours through Sunday, August 6, Monday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. The winner will be revealed on Sunday, August 13. Purchase the $13-$15 tickets to win the Dream House (or a $250,000 cash option) at the house during tour hours, at all Lake County YMCA branches, by phone 440-354-5656, or online at There is also a separate drawing for a 2017 Chevy Malibu.
